Monday afternoon we arrived at Green Turtle Bay Marina on Lake Barkley in Grand Rivers, KY. This is the first full service marina we have been to in five days. Needless to say we and the boat were way overdue for a good cleanup. This location is like an outpost for loopers. There have been no marinas on the Cumberland or Ohio Rivers as well as the last portion of the Mississippi so gas tanks and refrigerators/coolers are empty and dirty laundry bags are full. Everyone is glad to be here and in no hurry to leave.
Tuesday was a rainy day here so it was a perfect time to focus on boat clean up. We spent the day doing laundry, cleaning the boat inside and out, getting an oil change and shopping for groceries. We also restocked alcoholic libations; it seems the next 450 miles of the trip are through dry counties.
We have enjoyed the company of the other dozen or so looper boats during our stay here. They are from the USA, Canada and Europe and they all have interesting stories to convey. Some are doing the trip in nine months, others two years and some are travelling for an even greater undetermined length of time..JPG)
